no really, I am here

cool
I don't know, I don't feel like there's much going on. At least not enough that anyone else might want to know about.

Yesterday though, I did venture out a bit. I went to the post office, and finally mailed out the baby blanket. I don't want to post pics of it until it's been received though, because otherwise it feels like I'm spoiling her surprise. So, as soon as I hear that, I'll post a picture.

After the post office, I went to the mall. While there, I saw some ponchos in Torrid that I could probably reproduce (in better yarn, natch). Although my camera was at home, I've got the whiz-bang camera phone, which worked. This color's pretty fun, although I liked the purple one they had a bit better. But I figured the pattern would show up better in the pink.

I think that's basically garter stitch for a few rows (6? 12? possibly 5 or 11?), then a row with k1 YO all the way across, then on the next row you drop the YOs. Which is what creates that vertical drop. Right? I've got 750 meters of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, color 607, which seems like a pretty good choice.

Also at Torrid, I saw this shirt that made me think of [info]unseelie_sidhe (of course):

and then this one that made me think of Emily:

Then later, to Target for some Brita filters, and I remembered to take a picture of the hat I mentioned at SnB this Sunday. You could easily knit this stockinette all around, just use a few yards each of several different yarns, and make sure to get some wacky textures going on:

And I guess that's about all I can think of now.

I love that hat! Well, not the colours, coz I'm SO not a pink person ... but the style! :)

They had it in several colors, or if you knit or crochet (or know someone who does) and have some random coordinating scraps of yarn it'd be pretty easy and quick to make. :)

I wish I were cool enough to wear a funky hat like that.

I LOVE Dar Williams! Particularly that song!

You should just *wear* it. It's sort of like when you just make yourself smile, and eventually you realize that you're in a better mood? Same deal - wear the hat, and you'll become cool enough. ;)

Dar's the best. I was trying to jolt myself out of a funk, so I pulled out Dar and cranked up "Better Things", then "As Cool As I Am", and it really helped a lot. Now I just need a cool hat, and I'm set.

Ah, another good song. You could whip up one of those cool hats in a jiffy!

Wow, those knits are something else! Love them both! If you figure out the stitches for the top one, let me know. :)

By the way...it's definitely like I thought. Knit a few rows, then do a row of *K1 YO*, rep until 1 stitch remains, K1. Next row is *K1, drop YO*, rep until 1 stitch remains, K1. Then knit again until you want the dropped stitches, and repeat. Yes, just drop that yarn over right off your needle and let it go, it's okay, it won't cause everything to unravel. If you want longer drops, you can also do 2 YOs between stitches, and you'd drop both of those on the following row.

It's hard enough for me to update this thing, much less add ANOTHER thing for me to update and look at all of the time. :P

Plus, I'm usually more likely to take a picture with my digital camera than my phone. I've just forgotten to put the camera back in my purse the last couple of days, so I was forced to use the backup. ;)
